Ben Starr

Ben Starr is a 34 year old travel writer from Dallas. Many People call him the “Male Martha Stewart.” He raises much of his own food, brews his own beer and wine, single

handedly performs massive renovation projects. He is a writer, photographer, cave explorer, and world traveler. Ben has been to 36 world countries and all 7 continents. In 2007 he appeared on the Rachel Ray Show. In 2010 he appeared on HGTV’s, All American Handyman. Most recently, Ben auditioned with 30,000 others for Fox’s hit series Masterchef with Gordon Ramsay. He was cast on the show and placed 5th of the top 100 contestants, appearing on all 22 episodes of the show. Gordon Ramsay’s production company has signed Ben to a talent contract and is currently working with him to develop a TV show of his own.

Ben grew up in Abilene and spent his entire elementary through high school education at Wylie. Ben is excited to set food on the Wylie stage for the first time in 17 years, and hopes that the evening will raise record-breaking funds for scholarships and classroom grants.

Ben is an extraordinary choice as our entertainer of the evening. Not only did he agree to come an “volunteer presenter”, he also brought 3 autographed cookbooks which he wrote, an “I’ve Ben Starr Struck” Apron, a custom made Colorful Chef’s Hat, and
a fantastic Six layer Pumpkin Carrot Cake – all that were auctioned off Thursday!
