2010 Dinner

The first We Are Wylie Dinner was a huge success featuring comedian Clinton Pickens. Pickens is a 1999 WHS graduate and the son of Rex and Patricia Pickens of Abilene. He was warmly received by the audience.  His training in drama  and comedy at Baylor University and experience performing “Improv” comedy In Los Angeles as well as comedy clubs and colleges across America was evident as he gave his complimentary performance to benefit the Wylie Bulldogs Education Foundation. He delivered  humorous quips about Wylie’s “cafetorium”, his singing phrase  by phrase dissection of the extreme emotions and commitment of the school’s song, and illustrated photo spoof of what once was the rage; “Glamour Shots”  brought laughter and applause from the engaged audience. Clinton’s complimentary performance received a spontaneous and unanimous standing ovation from an appreciative  Wylie audience.  We are indebted to Clinton Pickens for traveling from Los Angeles, CA to perform and give his support to the Wylie community he loves.  Serving as our first Foundation’s  Entertainer/ Speaker, he made us all proud to be a Wylie Bulldog!  THANK  YOU Clinton Pickens for helping our first dinner be a big success as well as so much fun!

ABOUT CLINTON PICKENS

Clinton Pickens, born and raised in Abilene, Texas, is a proud Abilenian. Clinton is a product of the Wylie Independent School District, where his mother Patricia proudly taught 2nd grade for many years, and his father attended high school football games on cold nights wearing hunting cover-alls.
After graduating as the valedictorian of his class in 1999, Clinton went on to Baylor University and became very involved in comedy while holding a place on the school rowing team. (which should come as a surprise to anybody that ever saw him try to do anything remotely athletic). He currently lives in Los Angeles, CA and is a regular at the Hollywood Improv Comedy Club. Clinton works as an actor and performs stand up at comedy clubs and colleges all over the country.

The Wylie Bulldogs Education Foundation is a not-for-profit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3). Our mission is to collect and distribute gifts to promote excellence in education to students and teachers.
