Wylie BEF Board of Directors

The Wylie Bulldogs Education Foundation is governed by a board of directors, representing a broad spectrum of community citizens. The foundation board operates under strict account requirements of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The board’s articles of non-profit corporation were filed with and approved by the state of Texas. The board also adopted bylaws and governing policies.

2023 Brings Big Change To Leadership

In 2023, the board of directors elected a new president, Denise Blake, marking the first time in its history that the board will not be led by Becky Rentz, who was the driving force behind the Foundation’s creation in 2010 and has been its only president and its executive director for 13 years!

But Becky is not going anywhere. She is stepping into a new role as Vice President of Donor Development, where she will concentrate on developing the Foundation’s donor base. The new role will also allow her more time to spend with her grandson, John Bailey!

Denise was treasurer of the Foundation for 11 years, before stepping into the role of Vice President of Operations last year. She also has led the Grants and Scholarship Selection Committee for many years.

Johanna Weltzin was elected Vice President of Operations. Tim Nelson and Candice McCray will continue in their roles of Treasurer and Secretary respectively.  Also, the board added one new member at its meeting in May — Jennifer Hanner. Welcome Jennifer!

Other members of the board in 2023 include: Joey Light, Lisa Salmon, Mashelle Ancell, Frank Peck, Sevie Schonerstedt, Samantha Miers, Lisa Chavez, Sheila Warren, Ricky Bacon, Traci Simons and Sherry Hirsch.
